Men B vaccine now accepted for vaccination schedule

The Department of Health reconsiders MenB vaccine Bexsero

“The JCVI has reconsidered its recommendation to the Department of Health, and that the MenB vaccine, Bexsero, will be introduced into the routine childhood immunisation, at 2, 4 and 12 months of age (providing they can negotiate an acceptable price with Novartis). We don’t know when, although we obviously hope it will be before next winter” NEWS from Meningitis Research Foundation.

As the Medical Advisory Service nursing telephone teams manage enquiries for three of the major UK meningitis Charities – Meningitis Research Foundation, Meningitis Trust and Meningitis UK – we are delighted that prevention of a disease feared by so many parents will be made available on the NHS – w all hope this will be a speedy process and thus save many more lives.
